We have not finished celebrating the official launching of iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max on September 10, 2019. But Apple working hard to putting out an iPhone SE2 to land alongside them. In this Article we are going to give a brief iphone SE2 Review, Release date, Expected specification and Price.
When iOS 13 arrived in September 2019 many iPhone users were quick to update. But those with an iPhone 6 or earlier miss out on iOS 13 and it’s new features, which include the Apple Arcade games service. With so much on offer from iOS 13, now is a great time to switch an older iPhone for a newer model.
The iPhone SE2 would be a ‘true’ budget alternative to the high-end iPhones, more so than the iPhone XR was, with downgraded specs from other devices but with a much lower price tag too.
Right now the smallest iPhone is the iPhone 8, with it’s 4.7in display, priced at £409/$449. But there is at last some hope that a replacement for the iPhone SE 2 will be launched in the near future.
iPhone SE2 Release Date
The iPhone SE 2, if it ever launches, has current rumors pointing to either a launch in the first quarter of 2020, or a more vague early 2020 unveiling.
While we would take this with a pinch of salt for now, not least because we haven’t heard much about an iPhone SE 2 recently, it would make sense for Apple to launch one in the first half of 2020.
Apple has been losing market share recently and that’s likely in part because of the prohibitively high price of most of its phones. By launching an iPhone SE 2 the company would give buyers a more affordable option, and by launching it around six months after the iPhone 11 range it should arrive just as sales are starting to slow.
Price & availability
Until September 2018 the iPhone SE was available in 32GB and 128GB versions. In the UK the 32GB model cost £379; 128GB was £479. (For comparison, in the US the iPhone SE cost $399 for 32GB and $449 for 129GB.)
Those prices are comparable with the cheapest iPhone currently sold by Apple is the iPhone 8, which starts at £479/$449 for a 64GB model.
It would be reasonable to expect the iPhone SE2 to be similarly priced when (and if) it launches. We also anticipate that when it does arrive it will replace the iPhone 8.
In terms of how the new iPhone is going to look, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said: “For the most part, the form factor design and hardware spec are similar to iPhone 8’s,” indicating that the new iPhone SE will look similar to the iPhone 8, rather than adopting the iPhone X-style, full-screen, Home button-free design.
There’s still a chance that the SE2 could be smaller than the iPhone 8 though. A Chinese report back in February 2018 said the new iPhone SE2 would have a similar design to the current iPhone SE but with a larger 4.2in display.
A 4.2in display is still smaller than the 4.7in display on the iPhone 8.
A complete redesign aside, one thing that is likely to change is the colour options.
The iPhone SE was available in silver, gold, Space Grey and Rose Gold options. The iPhone SE 2 is likely to be available in silver, gold, and Space Grey – like the iPhone 8.
Alternatively, we could see a new iPhone in iPhone 5C-style colours – as is the case with the iPhone XR and 11 handsets.
The iPhone SE had a 4in screen (that’s 4 inches measured diagonally). The handset itself measured 123.8mm by 58.6mm and was 7.6mm thick. It weighed 113g.
iPhone 8 measures 138.4mm by 67.3mm and is 7.3cm thick. It weighs 148g.
More Interesting Features of iPhone SE2
The latest report suggests the iPhone SE 2 could have a 4.7-inch LCD screen. But other than that it will apparently use many of the same components as the iPhone 11 range. So by the sounds of things you can expect flagship power in a smaller size and at a lower price.
That’s a claim that we’ve now heard twice, with respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo saying to expect an A13 chipset (the same as the iPhone 11 range) and 3GB of RAM, but an iPhone 8-like design, meaning probably a 4.7-inch screen.
In somewhat conflicting but much older (and therefore less likely to be accurate) news, we’ve heard that the iPhone SE 2 could have a quad-core A10 chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing one, a 4-inch screen and that it could come in 32GB and 128GB sizes.
That would be an upgrade in some areas from the iPhone SE, but not much of one, putting it roughly in line with the iPhone 7, albeit with a smaller screen.
